FAQS
-
Does my child need speech therapy?
If you are worried about your child’s speech language development, reach out to a specialist! The worst (or best?) that can happen is the SLP lets you know that you have nothing to worry about.
-
When should I reach out for speech therapy?
All research supports the “sooner the better” for speech therapy intervention. The “wait and see” approach is no longer supported for a number of reasons. If you have concerns about your child, contact a specialist. There is no harm in getting more information about your child and how best to support them.
-
Do you take insurance?
At this time, Heart and Soule Speech Therapy, LLC is considered an “out of network” provider meaning we do not accept insurance. We do, however, provide clients with a superbill to submit to insurance for reimbursement.
-
Can I refer my own child or do I need a pediatrician referral?
Because Heart and Soule Speech Therapy is a private pay/”out of network” service, you do not need a pediatrician or outside referral to access speech therapy. However, it is encouraged that your pediatrician is aware that your child is participating in speech therapy and having a referral may be required if you plan to submit to your insurance for reimbursement through a superbill.
-
My child gets speech therapy in school/early intervention. Can they get private speech therapy, too?
Yes! Private speech therapy is a great way to supplement the services your child may be receiving elsewhere. We will work hard to communicate with your child’s other providers to ensure consistent and effective strategies and goals are implemented.

What is my role as the parent in the process?
As a Heart and Soule parent, you will be provided with education and resources to help you understand and support your child. You have the option to be present for sessions making it easy to ask questions, clarify information, and celebrate the ways in which your child is learning and progressing. You will be asked to complete home practice programs individually created for your child that will facilitate progress and generalization of skills. It is our mission to ensure that parents are involved and empowered. We hope to rid parents of any guilt, frustration, and confusion related to their child’s speech language development and abilities.
